More Celebs, Restaurant Rankings, Reader Concerns + Tons of New August Events

👀 Two quick notes before diving in:
The response from all of you about a potential Teton Tattle Happy Hour has been awesome! I’ve also heard from a few local spots and will be chatting with them this week. Stay tuned!
Your feedback on the new “mega hotel” was loud and clear. I have a section on it below.
Thanks very much for always taking the time to participate!

Teton Takes
1️⃣ My Top 11 Jackson Restaurants
A quick note on this first set of rankings: The order could easily change depending on the situation. For example, if I’m running around town with kids and some friends, Hatch would be a great option. Bin 22 is awesome, but it’s not ideal for a quiet family dinner. Hopefully, that helps set the tone.
Wild Sage – Amazing! The ever-changing menu keeps us coming back often.
Orsetto – Consistently great, with top-notch service.
Glorietta’s – Some of the best drinks in town and killer food.
Local JH – All about the meat! If you are here in the winter, there is nothing better than grabbing a bison burger in the bar and watching a football game.
The Bistro – Good food, affordable prices, and great service.
The Blue Lion - The lamb chops are truly the best you will ever have. Great martini!
Aurora – Two excellent meals this summer. Drinks and service were strong! The views of the valley are special.
Trio – Had a perfect halibut dish last week; the pizza options are great for kids.
The Kitchen – I might get some pushback here—people love this place. My experience wasn’t bad, just not memorable.
Hatch – The salmon asado taco is flat-out amazing! Service was great and prices reasonable.
Bin 22 – Amazing service and a unique menu compared to other Jackson spots, which is a good thing. The dining area is small and can get a bit loud.
I’ll be visiting the new Steadfire Chophouse at the Four Seasons soon… just waiting for my cholesterol to tick down a bit first.
Also, sushi is it’s own category in my household. I will have a King Sushi vs. Kampai review soon.
2️⃣ Monthly Teton Tattle Happy Hour Is Coming!
I’m meeting with a few folks this week and hope to have an update soon. This won’t be just any “happy hour” — expect a lively gathering for Tattle readers, both locals and visitors, complete with some free drinks and exclusive swag. Stay tuned for the fun details!

What Tattle Readers Had To Say About the “Mega Hotel” — And My Take as a New Jackson Resident
Last week I asked for your feedback on the new “mega hotel” recently approved for Jackson…..you did not hold back!
Reader Concerns:
Overdevelopment & Scale:
Many say the project feels “too big for Jackson,” calling it “cramped living at its best” squeezed onto a tiny 2.75-acre site. There’s worry this massive footprint clashes with the mountain-town charm we all love.Traffic & Parking:
“Gonna make traffic worse!” is a common refrain. Questions swirl about where all the extra cars will park, with some suggesting a parking ramp might’ve been a smarter move.Loss of Local Soul & Character:
Several readers fear this hotel could be “bad for the soul of Jackson,” turning it into a “corporate” or “pocket-filling” destination. As one put it, “I come to Jackson Hole for a reason and that is not it.”Economic vs. Cultural Trade-Off:
While some acknowledge it might boost someone’s bottom line, many feel it’s “very very bad for Jackson locals.” One question stood out: “Is Jackson really not making enough money as it stands now?”Calls for Balance:
A desire for community benefits agreements like affordable workforce housing and local sourcing to balance economic gains with neighborhood preservation.
My Take as Someone New to Jackson:
I get where the concerns come from. Jackson’s unique character is what drew me here too, and it’s important we protect that vibe. The scale and traffic issues are valid worries for a town this size.
That said, I also see some real positives in this project:
It’s adding housing options Jackson desperately needs, market rate, affordable, and workforce homes, which is critical in a town with a notorious housing crunch.
The environmental cleanup plan addresses longstanding contamination on the site, which benefits everyone.
Thoughtful design changes aim to improve streetscapes and public spaces, making downtown more walkable and enjoyable.
The hotel and retail spaces will generate jobs and tax revenue that support local businesses and services. Amazingly, the town of Jackson is operating on a budget shortfall, which is shocking to most people.
To me, the question is how to make sure these benefits don’t come at the cost of Jackson’s soul. That’s where ongoing community involvement and strong agreements on workforce housing, local hiring, and preserving neighborhood character will be key.
Jackson is evolving and while change isn’t always easy, careful planning can help us grow without losing what makes this place special.

![]() | Originally a Philly guy who traded cheesesteaks for mountain views, I made the leap from the East Coast hustle to the wide-open skies of Jackson Hole. Fueled by a love for good stories and great community, I launched the Teton Tattle newsletter to keep locals and visitors in the know — with a little wit and a lot of local flavor. When I’m not chasing the next big scoop or a killer bear sighting, I run AntlersArch.com, your go-to spot for Jackson Hole news and life in the Tetons. It’s all about connecting people to this wild, wonderful corner of the world, one headline (and one laugh) at a time. |
